Re: Week 2: Ballads and Barcarolles
@Jack Stewart Yes, I have noticed that about Lorenzo. Actually, since attempting to play the lute, I have noticed that in several guitar players who also play early instruments.โฆ

@Blaise Laflamme Thanks, Blaise. I really like that one, so I decided to work on memorizing it, which always helps in making it more musical. Forum? What's that?

@Jack Stewart Thanks, Jack! I have become so forgetful that anytime I read music, it is sight-reading. They say there are three signs of getting older: Forgetting things I can't remember I can'tโฆ

Re: Week 3: Waltzes and Whirls
@Steve Pederson Maybe Iโm wrong about Kempโs Jig. Newsidlerโs name I have seen spelled in a variety of ways (including the way I just typed it). Iโve been told that Fernando Sor was actually namedโฆ

Re: Week 3: Waltzes and Whirls
@Steve Pederson @Jack Stewart Yes, Kemp's Jig is definitely Dowland. The Neusidler piece that Parkening labeled as "Italian Dance" is actually called "Ein welscher tanz" which translates to "Frenchโฆ

@JUAN ALONSO Very nice, Juan! I played this piece for my senior recital in 1991, and I donโt think Iโve played it since. Very challenging for both hands. Looking forward to hearing more Sor from you!

@Steve Pederson Great stuff, Steve! I especially like your performance of Kemp's jig - so musical with the changes of color and articulation, and then the super cool ornamentation.โฆ

@Steve Pederson I highly recommend it! Now all I need is a vihuela, a baroque guitar, and a romantic guitar. While I'm at it, maybe a new modern guitar would be good too.โฆ

John Dowland - Round Battle Galliard I had played this on the guitar many decades ago, when I still had Noad's "Renaissance Guitar" anthology. Now that I have a lute, I thought I'd give it a go again.
